Benefits of Living in a Boston High Rise

November 5, 2011 |

There was a time that two categories of people would generally live in a full service, high rise building: singles and empty nesters. However, this has changed drastically in Boston luxury real estate.

Nowadays, as life gets busier and more complicated, families with small children opt for the convenient and comforting lifestyle that a full service building provides. Their notion of “the American Dream” has been transformed from a house with a yard to a Boston luxury condo. Some families buy into the best of both worlds – with a high rise condo and a country or a beach house in addition.

The most attractive aspect of living in a luxury high rise condo is the 24-hour concierge who makes life tremendously easier for residents. This is particularly appealing for people who are not home during the day or tend to be away for extended periods of time and need work or repair done. Also, it is comforting to live in these buildings in case of emergency situations, since there is 24-hour service available. The concierge in most of these buildings provides a variety of services from hotel/air/restaurant reservations and calling a cab to letting workmen into the apartment, taking deliveries, and parking your car in the garage.

Some of the full service buildings have a hotel component, which means hotel services can be enjoyed by high rise residents for a fee, including meals and room services available to hotel guests. Many residents appreciate the service aspect of adjoining hotels, like the Mandarin Oriental - the very high end luxury hotel/residence. Additional coveted residences with adjoining hotels include the Ritz Carlton, with its famed Sports Club LA gym/spa and The Intercontinental, the Four Seasons and Battery and Rowes Wharf,  located in the booming Waterfront area with the Rose Kennedy Greenway.

Most Boston luxury real estate buildings have areas that are common to the buildings such as a gym, spa, and library. The Heritage on the Garden, across from the Public Garden, has complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea/coffee for the residents in the Library. So does the Belvedere in the Back Bay. The Residences at the Clarendon in the Back Bay offer a children’s playroom and a huge outdoor terrace for the residents, aside from the gym and the food service from the restaurant Post 360.

There are numerous amenities attached to Boston luxury condos in high rise buildings. Interested in seeing some of these properties? Contact me to see what’s on the market now.
