Marathon Weekend and Boston Luxury Real Estate
April 18, 2015Boston Marathon weekend is quite special. People from all over the world come to this event to participate, support family and friends running in the race, or just attend as a cheerleader to enjoy the event. The city is quite festive and shops, cafes and restaurants are abuzz with excitement.
Given all the excitement around the marathon, you would think that people are preoccupied and the last on their minds is Boston luxury real estate. That’s not the case at all. In fact, the open houses for Boston luxury homes are pretty crowded with locals and out of towners. New England folks celebrate Patriots Day and most have a three day holiday weekend, so the locals staying in town go out to open houses to explore possibilities, even if they are not seriously thinking of moving. It gives them a head start and a good sense of the Boston luxury homes on the market.
On the other hand, I have had buyers from out of town who visiting for the Boston Marathon, but they have family here who are looking to move and are seeking a second opinion. So, they accompany them to open houses and/or visiting properties. Real estate professionals should not assume that the Boston luxury real estate market will be quiet and plan to leave town for the weekend. Buyers and sellers like to take advantage of this relaxing weekend to look at options and meet potential real estate agents.
Unlike many other US cities, Boston is an extremely walkable town. Its historic beauty and rich character make it fun for visitors to explore different areas, shop, eat and have fun. Contact me if you’d like to take advantage of the upcoming holiday and visit some of the most magnificent properties in the city. Happy Patriots Day!
