Moving to a Boston Neighborhood that’s Unfamiliar
December 19, 2015If you’re moving into a new area, whether it's the city or the suburbs, it is important to get to know the surrounding Boston neighborhood first. This is especially true since there are all the new developments in areas where once were “not designated” as residential. This designation is changing rapidly.
New Boston luxury real estate towers are being built all over the city. Some are in areas that were once designated industrial/commercial and are now going to be residential/commercial. If you’re planning to buy or rent, it’s always good to know what you’re dealing with in future construction in the immediate area. Boston luxury real estate development can impact traffic / pedestrian congestion, quality of life and availability of services. These are valid concerns and questions you need to ask before moving in or purchasing property.
Of course, if renting, the investment aspect is less of a concern than if you were to purchase Boston luxury real estate. To buy a property with thousands or millions of dollars at risk, you want to make sure that you’re fully familiar with the area in which you’re buying.
You don’t want to make the investment and a year down the road find out that the lot across the street is being developed into a multi-million dollar structure which will impact your views, not to mention creating traffic congestion which you may not want. After all it is part of urban living...that is, in fact, what makes city living exciting and not boring. New areas come to life and residents are always prepared for testing new waters. Guidance from a savvy Boston real estate agent is always helpful…
